Ganderbal, May 26 (KNO): The body of a forest guard, who had gone missing four days ago after drowning in Sindh Nallah, was recovered on Monday in Gundroshan area of Ganderbal district, officials confirmed.
An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the deceased, identified as Shameem Ahmad Mir (44), was a forest guard posted in Paribal forest division. He reportedly drowned near Compartment No. 1 of the division while performing his duties.
Following the incident, a large-scale search and rescue operation was launched, involving the local police, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and MARCOS (Marine Commandos). After several days of relentless efforts, the rescue teams successfully retrieved the body from Gundroshan area.
"After four days of strenuous search operations, his body was recovered this afternoon in Gundroshan," the official said.
Meanwhile, police have taken cognizance of the incident and initiated the necessary legal formalities.
Authorities have assured a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the forest guard's death. After the completion of all medical and legal procedures, the body was handed over to the family for last rites—(KNO)
